To learn through timeline, maps, facts research, reading literature, Hollywood Movies, and report writing about our 45 US Presidents.
HISTORICAL FIGURE: Fact Sheet (Research each president.)
TIMELINE: Person, Date, Location, Achievement (Fill space like a scrapbook with pictures and verbiage. Do rough draft on wall and final copy in blank timeline book.)
TRIVIA CARDS: Name, Picture / Date, Location, Achievement, Adjective (Create, Print, Laminate in Quizlet)
MAPS: Using objectivity, draw one 8” x 10” map per week that tells a story or leads to some conclusion about the figures and time periods studied. (A map with no conclusion will not count. For example, draw a map of Europe of all the US Presidents who were born there. Or Draw a map of the Midwestern US with all the Presidents born there. Would a map of all Republican Presidents tell a story? Place or birth or place of achievements? Can you map all the presidents’ homes that are museums today? World Map with all 45 presidents place of birth? Any map telling a story will work. Be creative for extra credit!)
READING: Read 5 presidential biographies/autobiographies/memoirs of your choosing and mom’s approval.
WRITING: One research paper, LTW Essays 7,8, and 9
WORKSHEETS: Mom will include a section of worksheets to go through.
MOVIES: Watch 8 movies of your choosing and mom’s approval, then do a movie review worksheet. (You can fill it out while watching the movie to save time.) Movie suggestions: Lincoln by Spielberg, JFK by Stone, Nixon by Stone, Hyde Park on Hudson, Thirteen Days, The Crossing (George Washington), Truman (1995), Jefferson in Paris, The President’s Lady (Andrew Jackson), John Adams (Series Drama), 1776, The Butler, The Reagans, The Kennedy’s (Series Drama), PT109 (JFK – WW2)
