What was his major contribution while in office:

Harrison used the McKinley Tariff as a thank you to the businesses that supported him in the election. Basically it made the competition’s prices rise and make customers want to go to the cheaper business but this backfired. Because now that the competition raised their prices the businesses that Harrison was trying to help raised their prices as well. This unfortunately made the customers angry. And Harrison was not re-elected.

What did he do after he left office:

After his presidency Harrison returned home to Indianapolis. And was elected commander of the Ohio Commandery on May 3, 1893. From 1895 to 1901 he served as a Trustee for Purdue University and had a dormitory named in his honor. Harrison remarried but his two adult children didn’t approve of this so they didn’t attend the wedding. Harrison and his new wife had one child, Elizabeth, together. Harrison grew ill in February 1901 and died of pneumonia on March 13th, 1901.
