What was his major contribution while in office:

Nixon lead himself to his inevitable resignation by bugging the Watergate building. While trying to be reelected Nixon had some men from his committee break into the Democrat National Committee headquarters, the Watergate building, and bug it. When he was caught Nixon denied that he knew anything about it. But his assistant said otherwise, so they had to hand over the tapes of the Oval Office conversations.

What did he do after he left office:

After Nixon’s resignation Ford wanted to pardon him, even though it would be unpopular by the people. Nixon didn’t accept right away but eventually he made up his mind. He didn’t think he committed a legitimate crime so he didn’t want to go through the troubles with the document. Ford agreed eventually and Nixon was pardoned. In 1974 he became ill and had surgery done. It was successful and he went on with his political career and being on television. In 1994 he suffered from a stroke and fell into a coma. He died four days later.
