What was his major contribution while in office:

Thomas Jefferson’s major contribution was the West-ward expansion, he had to go against what he believed, that if something was not stated in the constitution then the government could not perform that action, to keep his country safe. He bought the western land on the other side of the Mississippi river from Napoleon.

What did he do after he left office:

Jefferson took up researching everything through books, inventions, and experiments. He also made the University of Virginia, he did this as his last public service proudly. When he became ill in 1826 he began to worry about his debt, he had sold many of his books to the government and owned about 150 slaves. This still did not bring him out of debt. He died on July 4th, 1826, the same day as John Adams.
