Civil rights for African Americans still lagged but Kennedy didn’t want to do anything to show his views on this subject so he didn’t offend Segregationists in the south. But Martin Luther King Jr and many other African Americans did not want to wait for their freedom, so they fought for it. Thirteen Freedom Riders walked determinedly onto the Greyhound bus and headed down south. Nearly every time the bus stopped they were beaten but they stood their ground and eventually Kennedy came to their aid, because everything the Freedom Riders were doing was legal.

What did he do after he left office:

No one really knows whether there was one assassin or multiple, in fact no one really knows why Kennedy was assassinated. The only facts are that he was shot twice, once in the throat and again in the back of his head. It is also known that a man named Lee Harvey Oswald had a part in Kennedy’s murder.
