What was his major contribution while in office:

Franklin had to fix Hoover’s mess, the Great Depression. He made an act called the National Industrial Recovery Act that would regulate the market. The National Recovery Administration had trade associations and businesses create “codes of fair competition” which also helped regulate the market. Roosevelt suspended the antitrust laws so production and prices could be fixed too. Many factory owners were not pleased with these changes though, because workers could collectively bargain so that one contract could cover the whole factory.

What did he do after he left office:

On March 29th, 1945 only five weeks into his fourth term he was getting his portrait painted, when he said, “I have a terrific pain in the back of my head.” And then he slumped over his chair unconscious. He was diagnosed with cerebral hemorrhage and he died at 3:35pm that day. His portrait is now referred to as Unfinished Portrait of FDR.
