What was his major contribution while in office:

On January first, 1959 Cuba fell into Dictatorship to Fidel Castro.  Castro first wanted an alliance with the U.S. but when he claimed foreign property he found much of it belonged to U.S. corporations. He claimed that it was the only way to free Cuba from imperialism. But when the U.S. stopped trading with Cuba, Castro went to the Soviet Union instead.

What did he do after he left office:

Even though Eisenhower retired he did not entirely give up his political life. He flew to San Antonio to support John Goode for Texas’ 20th Congressional District, but all unsuccessfully. He also supported Barry Goldwater, a Republican, in the 1964 Republican National Convention. At the age of 78 on March 28th, 1969 Eisenhower died of consecutive heart failure.
